As creatives and marketers, it's challenging to constantly keep up with changing technology and trends to continuously build successful campaigns and help businesses grow.
One question I consistently get when I tell people what I do is, "how do you stay ahead of trends?"
Well, it's not always easy but if you're passionate about marketing -- which I'm sure you are -- then you make it a priority to always find ways to learn, grow and push yourself.
My favorite motivator and educator these days are podcasts.
There are SO many amazing podcasts out there so which do I turn to the most to keep me ahead of the curve and, honestly, sane during my days?
Check out the ones Marcella and I have dubbed our favorite go-to podcasts and what we love most about them.
My brother first introduced me to How I Built This with it's TOMS: Blake Mycoskie episode when he told me the history of how TOMS Shoes first became an idea. I was hooked.
I don't ever think I'll be an entrepreneur myself, but I have been fortunate enough to work for several very motivated individuals and have so much respect for the drive and passion entrepreneurs have every single day.
If you have any interest in learning how companies came to be, definitely give this a listen!
As I'm sure you've heard in several of our Creator's Block episodes, I love a slow morning where I get to ease into my day and sip my coffee before diving into my work schedule.
Marketing Over Coffee brings a natural, almost informal tone when discussing marketing trends and it makes me feel like I could be there enjoying my coffee with hosts John Wall and Christopher Penn.
Plus, each episode is only about 20 minutes!
Copyblogger is a great listen when you're obsessed with content marketing.
Rotating experts join host Sonia Simone to talk about everything content related -- strategies, email marketing, conversion optimization, etc.
Some of my favorite episodes though are the ones that focus more on the lifestyle and work life of marketers, like her 5 Ways to Manage a Stress-Induced Creative Slump.
I’ve listened to this podcast for years. It always helps to provide creative inspiration.
Host Debbie Millman (named “one of the most creative people working in business” by Fast Company) brings on weekly guests that provide insight, inspirations, and a deeper look into the work of various creatives.
Fun Fact: This is the first ever design podcast to be distributed through iTunes, starting in 2005!
The Guardian calls Reply All, “‘A podcast about the internet’ that is actually an unfailingly original exploration of modern life and how to survive it.”
I love listening to Reply All as a break from being so in the weeds with tech daily.
It brings forward the human side of the story in the tech first world we live in.
I always start my mornings with Up First.
This short, 10-minute, daily (Monday-Friday) podcast quickly became one of my faves.
Though it's not specifically geared towards designers or marketers, I love tuning in each day because it’s the easiest way for me to stay up to date with what’s going on in the news, from politics to pop culture.
We're busy people, after all!
