How to Improve Your Marketing By Using Employees and Social Media
Great company profiles mix in humor and informational posts along with their typical salesy posts. The benefit of adding employees to this process is it softens things up a bit as a whole.
When you post a blog article, your company profile will always tend to try to push a sale out of it. But when an employee posts, its adds a personal feel to your company, and gets rid of that robot feeling on your profile. The benefits to integrating your employees and social media are endless, and you will have a social media presence that is interesting to your followers!
Create a Social Media Policy
Now this has gotten a lot of scrutiny lately, but it is necessary to create a set of guidelines for social media. This can't be too strict, however, because you don't want your employees to have to hide things on their profiles. At IMPACT, social media is not just encouraged, it's almost required. And we post anything we want! Speaking of this, follow me on Twitter @DanBaumIMPACT. You don't want to have your employees have separate work and personal profiles, you want them to want to post and interact on social media.
Now of course this has limits. You don't see the CIA or Navy Seals posting about classified information. Just make it a goal to establish a social media presence for your employees. It completely softens up your company profile.
Make Social Media a Part of Regular Employee Training
You already train new employees on company policies and customs, right? So integrate social media into your regular training. Not having social media is one thing, but having terrible posts and pictures about your company is WORSE. So make sure everyone knows how to use platforms properly.
Integrate Events With Social Media
Got a big party coming up? Or a tradeshow? Get it up on Facebook! You should even create a hashtag on Twitter about it! What gets more exposure, your company profile, or your company profile AND 10 other employee profiles? Utilize this tool to increase awareness about your event, even your brand, all by integrating your employees and social media.
By combining your employees and social media, you're basically having your cake and eating it too. It's the best of both worlds. You have your company profile for your salesy posts and professionalism, but also your employee profiles for a personal feel. It makes your company look like a team effort, and social media users appreciate this a lot more than one old boring profile.
