What Marketers Be Talkin' 'Bout
Where we go over what you're saying in IMPACT Elite.
IMPACT Elite is a community of over 2,600 passionate inbounders looking to help other marketers (and sales and customer success people) succeed. We’d love for you to join us!
Go to impactplus.com/elite or just search the IMPACT Elite Group on Facebook and request to join. Plus, join us LIVE and in person this August at IMPACT Live 2018.
Elite member Bobby Vickers posted "I am planning on launching our new website this afternoon or tomorrow. [...] I am thinking about live streaming the launch and all the work behind the scenes to get ready. Is there any interest to see that?"
There's been a lot of great discussion in the group about whether or not a live video is the best plan for this. It got me thinking about when it's best to do live video and when not to. Check out the discussion in Elite and, if video marketing interests you, check out Film School for Marketers on YouTube.
Elite Member Andy Donovan posted in Elite asking about launching his new Facebook Messenger bot. He'd run into some snags and was wondering what the group thought. When he posted, not only did he get an answer but I shared the IMPACT webinar with Larry Kim that was about to start. Andy joined the webinar and was able to ask the question to Larry Kim! Check out his original post in Elite.
Inbound in the Trenches
This is where we talk about what we’re doing and what we’ve learned lately right here in the trenches.
Nick gave us a sales update to let us know the merger with the Sales Lion is going really well and the sales team is doing a great job at learning how to best offer workshops and training to our clients. They've been studying and sharing how the Sales Lion was successful with these offerings and have come up with great ways to bring these great solutions to our clients. Also, Nick shared that the agency services team has already met their sales goal for this month which is fantastic!
I spent the first three days of the week at an event through Small Giants which is an organization based on the book of the same name by Bo Burlingham. It's for companies that choose to be great instead of just big. The Small Giants community has groups of leaders dedicated to leading small giant organizations based on the small giants common qualities which include authenticity, trust, transparency, and more. This module was in Chicago so I was lucky enough to join our CEO, Bob Ruffolo, at this event.
On day one we enjoyed a great presentation by Corey Blake of Round Table Companies. He taught us the importance of vulnerability in building trust and how it relates to leadership. We did the coolest activity that he'd created with cards that asked questions of the group encouraging each person to be vulnerable. The best part of the activity was that once someone answered a question, no one was allowed to respond. It forced us to listen and actually hear what the person was sharing without the intent to respond. This is a skill I've been working on a lot and it was super helpful to have that aspect built into the game.
.@CoreyBlake9000 I absolutely loved this activity and the focus on listening without the intent to respond. @smallgiantsbuzz #vulnerability #smallgiants #leadership #companyculture pic.twitter.com/Kn2DaXtJgM

After that, we enjoyed a group dinner and a packed second day full of tons of learning. Finally, on Wednesday, we got to visit Tasty Catering. They are known for their great company culture, leadership, and open book management. In fact, they play The Great Game of Business and we got to experience it live and see exactly how they do this. While some may view The Great Game of Business as being synonymous with being financially transparent, sharing financials is only a small fraction of the entire process that makes up The Game. You can read more about it here. It was so awesome to experience, in person, how Tasty Catering involves all their employees in financial literacy and gets them involved in every aspect of the business.
#SGCJourney @TastyCatering weekly huddle company-wide + guests. Everyone gets the numbers, everyone feels like an owner and everyone celebrates. Two claps please 👏👏 pic.twitter.com/jCFhrCsWyO
