"Defining Your Vision For Growth:" The IMPACT Show Ep.2 [Show Notes]
May 19, 2017
The IMPACT Show was a coast-to-coast affair!
In this, the second episode of our new podcast, The IMPACT Show with Bob & Nick, Bob joined us from the Small Giants Summit in Detroit (Not Dallas -- Oops), while Nick once again invited us into his home in Boston. Together, they discussed Facebook’s crackdown on fake Live videos, the rise of content topic clusters, and of course, defining your vision for growth.
Just in case you missed us live (or if you want to relive the magic), you’ll find the episode’s show notes below as well as the recording.
Enjoy and make sure to share with your peers!

Content Topic Clusters
- Topic Cluster: A collection of articles around the same topic that internally link to each other.
- If you want to rank in Google for competitive key terms, this can help you better optimize for your specific focus keywords.
- Articles don’t have to include the exact same keyword, they just need to be around the same topic. (i.e. Content Marketing, Digital Marketing Style Guides, Blogging Tips)
- HubSpot Content Strategy Tool in Beta is based around this.

Facebook Cracking Down on Fake Live Videos
- Brands like Buzzfeed were putting up videos that weren’t quality broadcasts (i.e. cinemagraphs, countdowns)
- In an effort to preserve quality, Facebook will now penalize pages that post “fake” live videos like these.
- “Urgency, Unpredictability, and On-screen Action” are what draw people to live video.
Main Topic: “Defining Your Vision for Growth”
- A vision for growth is critical for three reasons. It:
- Defines Success: Everyone knows what they’re working towards
- Aligns Everyone: Everyone is working towards the same end-result
- Inspires
- Great Vision Statement Examples:
- Call em all: Free open-source software
- Zingerman's 2020 Vision
- Maggie, Principal from ZingTrain will be at IMPACT Live 2017
- Visions doesn’t have to be grand or aspirational, it just needs to be clear and direct about what you want to achieve. If you put it in your vision, it will happen.
