We’ve all heard that cheesy, overused saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.
As cliche as it is, in today’s day and age, it’s never been more true. From social media platforms shifting toward image-centric interfaces to companies putting more emphasis on using higher-quality photography on their sites, its clear that today's brands and consumers are screaming for “Bigger, Better Images!”
But how much are these images actually worth? What kind of role should they play on your site?
These are the questions MDG Advertising Agency answered in their infographic, It’s All About the Images. Their insightful infographic “illustrates the influence of images on a company’s business, branding, search, and social media efforts.”
Here are just a few of the insights from the infographic:
- Pinterest has completely changed the way we share images online. They’ve propelled themselves up to the 3rd most popular social network and their page views are up 210% in the last three months alone
- News, Political, and Sports categories benefit the most from having images in their articles but over articles containing relevant images have 94% more total views than articles without images on average.
- Companies can no longer afford to ignore the relationship between image a photo SEO. When searching, 60% of consumers are more likely to consider or contact a business that that has an image show up in local search results.
As you scroll through the infographic you’ll begin to see images really are the rising star of the internet and that taking full advantage of them can make the difference between creating a connection with a user or turning them into a missed opportunity.
