Every time I talk about live-streaming, whether it be with my coworkers, clients, or even friends, I always hear one of these four excuses:
I don’t have the right equipment to make it look professional
I’m not interesting or what I’m talking about isn’t interesting
I’ve never live streamed before so it would be a disaster
But it’s live, I’m not prepared!
I hate hearing those responses!
Between Facebook and Instagram, live streaming has become such a big thing not only in everyday live, but in the world of marketing, it can’t be ignored. Instead of making excuses or being afraid of the live stream movement, take a few minutes to get familiar with it and you’ll realize it’s not so bad. .
How Can Live Streaming Help My Company
With its real-time nature, live-streaming is a great tool that you can use to increase your company’s reach and build a better connection with your audience.
At IMPACT, we use live stream for a variety of different purposes.
The IMPACT Show, for example, is all done via Facebook Live. This allows for instant engagement with the audience and the ability to answer their questions in real-time on the air.
An easy way that you could do this at your own company is to set-up your iPhone on a tripod and do a quick Q&A with someone else in your organization. This takes minimal production effort and preparation effort on your end.
You’ll be able to give viewers better insight into your company and answer their top questions. If someone leaves a comment during the stream then you can engage with them verbally or use their questions for your next livestream topic.
We also consider live stream company activities. For instance, a while back, we did an IMPACT version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and live streamed the entire game on Facebook.
This gave our followers, friends, and fan a real look into our company’s culture.
Take advantage of this if your people are a main selling point to your product or service. Give viewers an inside look into what makes your people so great by showing them in their natural element.
In the end, the top benefits of live streaming for your company allow you to:
- Achieve a deeper audience connection
- Add a more human element to your brand
- Take advantage of the opportunity to learn and adjust from real time feedback
How Do I Get Started
Now that you know why you should start live-streaming, it’s time to get started!
Don’t worry about having the best equipment or being super comfortable in front of the camera. As long as the content you’re creating is relevant to your audience, people will be interested. As time goes on, you’ll get more comfortable.
Here are some great tips to keep in mind as you get started:
- Plan your messaging in advance
- Promote your live stream ahead of time
- All you need is a camera, microphone, and the internet
So from now instead of saying “I don’t know how to do it or I’m afraid to do it.” say “Let me learn some tips on how to live stream and they’ll only get better each time I do it.”
