Earlier today, our sales team celebrated a big win with the rest of the company — one of our deal-closing rockstar sales reps had closed a deal in a single call with a prospect. We all gave him a well-deserved round of applause (plus a few fist pumps and "whoop whoops!"), because it was a big freaking deal, and we all recognized that.
Here's the thing, though.
When you're in sales (either on a team or running the show as your company's sales leader), you deal with lots of "no's" and those moments where you have to mark a deal in your deal pipeline as "closed lost."
And, depending on how your pipeline ebbs and flows — especially as we in the last quarter of 2019 and already looking ahead to the first quarter of 2020 — it can be a challenge sometimes to motivate yourself or your sales team to crush their revenue goals for the quarter and the year.
